Julia Davis Parking Lot Replacement Project

Map of project and detour for the Julia Davis Park Parking Lot Repair

The parking lot adjacent to the playground, bocce ball courts and the Boise Pavilion in Julia Davis Park is being replaced due to its age and condition (see attached map for project location). Starting Monday, February 12, 2024 the lot will be fenced off so the asphalt can be replaced and the parking lot improved. Due to the scope of the work, the project will result in access being blocked from the pedestrian bridge that extends into the park from the Discover Center of Idaho parking lot. A detour will be in place and signed that re-routes people around the project via the sidewalk along 3rd Street.

The parking lot replacement project will not restrict access to the Julia Davis Park playground or Boise Pavilion, although parking nearby will be limited. This work will close off approximately 100 of the 491 parking spaces available at any given time within the park. Meanwhile, cars, cyclists and pedestrians will still be able to travel through the park via Julia Davis Park Drive during the construction work.

Replacement of the parking lot is estimated to wrap up in June 2024. We appreciate the cooperation of park visitors as our team works to improve Julia Davis Park.

Project completion estimates are subject to change due to volatility in the construction industry. Current challenges include material availability, rising costs, supply chain disruptions, staffing shortages and more. Boise Parks and Recreation will update project timelines as needed if delays occur.
